The eye region is the most scrutinised part of the face and it is one of the first to show signs of ageing.

Aesthetic problems that plague the eye include:

obicularis(Picture  of forehead and eye muscles from Allergan)
  • dark eye circles,

  • periorbital hollowing,

  • formation of crow’s feet,

  • short eyelashes and

  • droopy eyebrows.

Crow’s Feet

After identifying the underlying problem, a thorough understanding of periorbital anatomy is important to identify the underlying deficiency such as loss of suborbicularis oculi fat (SOOF) or hyperactivity of orbicularis oculi muscle.

The loss of the SOOF can be addressed with fillers while hyperactivity of orbicularis oculi muscle is treated with Botox injection.

The eyebrow is also an important aspect of peri-orbital aesthetics. Eyebrow embroidery is a common beauty procedure to improve the peri-orbital appearance. The loss of temporal and forehead fat pad may distort the eyebrow shape, causing downsloping of eyebrow. Fillers can be used to provide an eyebrow lift prior eyebrow embroidery to give it a more  aesthetic appearance.
